Reception Centers in Salt Lake City with Romantic Red roses

Recently the newlywed Anderson couple had their classy and stylish reception at the Ivy House, one of Western Gardens wedding reception centers in Salt Lake City.

Since the Ivy House is paired with Western Garden Centers, many of us employees have a particular love for plants, which extends to our observation of some of the floral arrangements that come through the reception center.  I would like to personally compliment the Anderson couple on their taste in florals.

One can never go wrong with a classy and romantic red rose.  The red rose has been a symbol of romance and deep love since the ancient greeks.  Perhaps the rose holds this meaning because of how long the blooms of a rose last into the fall. Or perhaps it is how the beautiful color of love is held so delicately above the thorns and hardship beneath, symbolizing that even through hardship and trial, love can prevail and bloom.  The red red rose is truly a metaphorical embodiment of the saying “Love Conquers All”.  What a glorious declaration for a reception!

We absolutely loved how the Anderson couple chose a classic color arrangement (black, white, and red) and gave it a fun modern feel.  The red, which usually tends to overwhelm this color arrangement, was used in such moderation that it created a glorious and stunning punch to the feel of the reception center.  Plus, by displaying the red purely through roses and petals the effect held the complexity of the roses symbolism, but also held the simplicity of modern design.

To the Anderson newlyweds, we wish you an eternity of deep love and time together, red roses and wonderful memories.  Thank you so much for making the Western Gardens family of reception centers in Salt Lake City part of your rose red memories.  We at Ivy House Weddings wish you all the best!

Special Guests at Wedding Venues in Utah

Wedding places in Utah with Elvis showing upIt’s not every day that wedding venues in Utah can enjoy the appearance of a very special guest who comes to honor a beautiful bride and groom.  We have photos to prove the visit of Elvis to Lara and Korey on May 10, 2014.  He attended their romantic Utah wedding reception celebration at Ivy House Weddings and played a significant role in their farewell from the event.

This couple chose to have a simple ceremony with about 25 guests followed by a small reception for the closest of family and friends.  Lara chose the stylish black and white Damask linen table toppers and runners over a hot pink base linen.  These were included in her venue rental price.  These colors set off the green boxwood wreath topped with hot pink rose petals with the classical tall silver candlestick centerpiece.  With real candlelight and the fireplace, the ambiance was romantic and intimate.  She used the Ivy House table ware package and self-catered with sandwiches and salads made by dear family and friends.  Utah weddings can be affordable when the wedding venue allows the bride to make choices like these for her celebration.

Beautiful cake by Granite Bakery at Salt Lake wedding receptions

Lara and Korey’s beautiful three-tiered cake was created by Granite bakery.  The middle tier was lined with fully opened roses.  The base tier was lined with seemingly perfect rose petals each delicately cascading over the one below it.  Again the cake was in shades of pinks and whites set upon the black and white table linens.

Skyline Flowers created the bride’s bouquets, the boutonnieres, corsages, and simple rose petals for the tables.  With close friends taking all the photos to document this momentous occasion, the wedding party of about 150 enjoyed simple socializing and the traditional bouquet and garter toss along with the bride and groom cutting the cake.

Real Utah Weddings – May 9, 2014

wedding venues in salt lake city with simple beautySome Utah weddings are simple yet just as special and beautiful as those Utah reception centers that are extravagant.  That is one of the beautiful aspects about Ivy House.  A bride can dress is way up, or simply enjoy it as it is because it already has a stunning simple beauty and charm.

Relaxed bride at slc wedding venuesThis event in May was a beautiful gathering with little fanfare but with a ton of love and happiness for this newly united couple.  Victoria and Christian celebrated their marriage with about 350 family and friends at Ivy House.  Our preferred caterers Utah Celebrations catered the event with delicious appetizers, sandwiches, and tarts. Cheers’n Swizzles was the alcohol provider and everyone sat back, relaxed and chitchatted the evening away.  Victoria chose a beautiful Royal blue base linen with an elegant black topper.  Along with our Chic mirror centerpiece with base candle, everyone was comfortable and enjoyed themselves.  Their photographer was Manuel Rascon who kindly shared photos with us and you can see that he does beautiful work. This is his second time shooting at Western Garden’s wedding reception venues in Utah.  He has been at our sister wedding venue Atrium Weddings in Sandy.

Today Simple elegant wedding venues in UtahI’d like to share about this wedding celebration that took place in the cold of winter, but you’d never guess it.  Liz and Matt added their touch of style and personality to the classic lines of Ivy House, one of our wedding venues in Utah; thus creating a Utah wedding reception with simple elegance that reflected the love they share together.

Liz chose beautiful pastel peaches and pinks and accented with golds, silvers, and ivory including a touch of lace.  It was elegant, warm, and inviting.  Not only was this Utah wedding reception a beautiful site, but even the sounds were elegant.  Liz and Matt invited a friend to come play the harp as background music before the dancing began with their iPod music.  The string instrument definitely added some class to the event that matched the classic charm of the style of this wedding venue.

The tables were covered with ivory base linens and topped with gold pin tucked toppers.  Atop this was the centerpiece option of our tall Silver candlestick centerpiece to which Liz accents with color coordinated ribbons, a touch of mirrors, votive candles, and photos of her and Matt within beautiful silver frames.  Again, it was absolute simple elegance as you will see in the photos.

We are one of the Utah reception centers that allow for self-catering and that is what Liz and Matt opted to do.  They brought in a variety of scrumptious desserts and platters of fresh fruit.  Loving neighbors kept the serving tables full for the guests.

Simple elegance can include a lot of fun too.  They created their own photo booth with streamers in their wedding colors hanging from a garden harbor as the background and a few fun props.  These photos were glued into the guest book and signed by all their fun family and friends.

Liz hired Natalie Gray of The Cake Market to create her exquisite cake.  It was a unique two tiered ruffly and pearled masterpiece with a beautiful rose bouquet on top.  The flowers were done by First Blossom, and her videographer was Dan Kettle with Elements in Motion.

Wedding Venues in Utah Real Event – Daytime Ceremony

Salt Lake Wedding venues with daytime eventsWedding venues in Utah like Ivy House Weddings are busy with real events like this one.  This beautiful daytime event is worth highlighting again, especially now that the bride’s photographer shared many of the photos with us.    This bride chose to have a daytime ring ceremony for special family and friends.  It was simple and stunning.  One unique set up feature was Angela set up a guest sign in table in the middle of the room just a bit in from the main entrance.  Their guests could enjoy a piece of carmel taffy and write a special note of good wishes to the new couple.

Angela kept the ambiance of this Utah wedding venue in the brown classic tones with an accent of ivory with sashes on the chairs, her wedding gown, and her elegant bridal bouquet.  The groom and his men were in brown suits and the bridesmaids were also in warm taupe summer dresses with elegant white pearl necklaces.  Very classy!  I believe that after the ring ceremony, the wedding party departed for a local favorite restaurant.  What a relaxing beautiful wedding day with close family and friends!

One of the Wedding Venues Salt Lake City Shares Some Great Reception Ideas for Any Bride to Consider

Romantic couple dancing in wedding venues in Salt Lake CityA unique and beautiful celebration of love took place at Ivy House Weddings, one of the newest wedding venues Salt Lake City has to offer.  This couple and their families and guests enjoyed their Salt Lake City wedding celebration with beautiful flowers from Costco, delicious bundt cakes from an Aunt, and catered delicacies by another Aunt.  This is one of the perks of booking with this Salt Lake City wedding reception venue called Ivy House Weddings.  The bride and her pocketbook can decide where she wants to spend her budget.

There are three highlights I’d like to share that were particularly worth noting.

1.  The party enjoyed a lot of dancing and this bride chose to hire an incredible DJ who really knew his music and knew how to get a crowd dancing.  Craig Chambers Disc-Connection got the place rockin’ and everyone had fun either dancing or watching the dancers.  Salt Lake wedding venues rock with classic DJ

2.   The second unique feature was the bride’s chosen refreshments for the evening.  With a dear aunt and the help of several neighbor women, the guests were able to walk through a “pasta bar” that was so fresh and fun.   The aunt in charge would place into the guest’s bowl items chosen from a number of choices, including different pastas, vegetables, chicken and even shrimp!  Then the guest would continue to the cooking station of 5 fun loving women.  Each had a small skillet and a burner in front of them.  In addition, there were in front of them several pitchers containing two types of sauce – a creamy Alfredo (made from scratch) or a tomato based sauce (again, made from scratch).  A cook would take the guest’s bowl and toss it in her pan and begin cooking it all.  Taking only about 1 minute per guest, the delicious dish was then poured onto the guest’s plate.  Then the happy customer could add salad, parmesan cheese, and breadsticks if they chose. Pasta Bar Lady Cooks at Salt Lake wedding venues  Some Salt Lake City wedding venues let you serve what YOU want!  Made to the order of each individual guest!

3.  One other clever idea involved the photo book and guest signature book.  Many times, guests simply get to glue their photos any which way in the couple’s book.  This bride had thought ahead and had created placement strips for the photos.  Guests didn’t have to decide where to place the photo and it gave the book more uniformity as the guests each had plenty of room to write their little best wishes to the newlyweds.  This bride surely was thinking way ahead.  Wedding reception idea of designating locations for guests to place their photo booth photos.

I will never forget the love in the eyes of the bride and groom as they danced their first dance.  The bride obviously adores her husband and he likewise to her.  Also, there were tender moments as the bride danced with her father.  Many beautiful memories were caught on film by their photographer Kristen Mae.

Of all the wedding reception centers in Salt Lake City this couple could have chosen, Ivy House Weddings was the perfect wedding venue they could have picked.  The mother of the bride wrote “We couldn’t of had a more perfect day! Everything was perfect.  Thanks so much for the perfect wedding!”

This couple didn't have an official line, but rather walked around the hall. More simple, less expensive, just as delicious, and just as fun to cut! Tender time with Dad! Plenty of smiles for everyone! A little touch to Ivy House centerpieces!

No Weather Worries at Western Garden’s Reception Centers in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City wedding photos are beautiful outside of Ivy House WeddingsIn early May, this bride and groom didn’t have to worry about Utah’s unpredictable rainy spring weather.  They were the honored guests inside one of Western Garden’s wedding reception centers in Salt Lake City.  Ivy House was the place for an evening full of beautiful memories, great happiness, fond reunions, rowdy dancing, and delicious cuisine.

The bride’s choice of Tiffany blue table linens and ribbons were very striking in Ivy House’s stylish ambiance.  After a brief yet beautiful wedding ring ceremony, the weather cooperated allowing the couple and wedding party to take plenty of photos outside in the gardens.  Adilfa from Don Polo photography was their professional.  She has a lot of spunk and definitely knows what she’s doing.  (The photos in this blog were taken by a non-professional Ivy House employee.)

About 350 guests savored delicious pastries, fresh fruits, salads, breads, and candies.  Plenty of relaxing conversation was enjoyed by all.  The wedding cake was created by Ivy House preferred baker Carrie’s Cakes.  The stunning and elegant 5 tiers sat as a queen on her pedestal for guests to admire.  This couple chose not to have a traditional wedding party line, but rather mingled throughout Ivy House hall to greet people and enjoy old and new acquaintances.

Another unique thing about this wedding party was the send off of the newlyweds.  The family had made plans for several dozen beautiful lantern lights to send off into the sky.  We all stepped into the movie Tangled as we watched the magical cylinders drift up into the heavens.  The bride and groom sent off a large blue lantern while all the others were white.  These coupled with Ivy House sparklers made for a beautiful finale to a beautiful celebration for a beautiful couple.

Both Western Garden’s Reception Centers in Salt Lake City Hosted Two Celebrations for One Couple in One Day

Salt Lake City wedding gets sealed with a kiss!Having two separate celebrations lent itself to choosing two different wedding venues in Salt Lake.  This bride had the best of two worlds.  Ceremony in a large majestic elegant room and an indoor garden reception.  She used Western Gardens two reception centers in Salt Lake City – Ivy House Weddings in Downtown and Atrium Weddings in Sandy.

On Friday evening, the couple and their close family and friends, who also were part of the wedding party, celebrated at Ivy House Weddings at Western Gardens Downtown.  After running through a rehearsal of the next day’s ceremony, the group enjoyed a sit down dinner.  Family and friends relished a delicious meal catered by GoodWood.   Guests enjoyed several choices – salad, prime rib, pineapple chicken, shrimp, fluffy potatoes, and steamed asparagus and another medley of cooked vegetables.

Saturday morning, the wedding party returned for the real thing at this wedding venue.  The bride and her bridesmaid prepared in the spacious and elegant brides room.   This bride was elegantly adorned with a cream colored wedding gown which fit beautifully with the decor of Ivy House.  Everyone was stunned at her poise and radiance as her father escorted her down the isle.  Purple sashes accented several of the chairs along the way.  Her bridesmaid’s wore purple and black attired and all carrying bouquets with a touch of purple with yellow, white, and deep red.

By early afternoon, the couple was on their way to another celebration with a different flavor.  The wedding party would soon enjoy another one of Western Gardens wedding reception centers in Salt Lake City, Atrium Weddings further south in Sandy.  Being done by 2pm allowed Ivy House staff to prepare for a different event booked at Ivy House the same evening.

February 25, 2012 – Wedding Venues in Salt Lake City and Paper Lanterns

Couple's First Dance with joy all around at wedding venue! Can you imagine a more happy place than at Ivy House Weddings, one of the wedding venues in Salt Lake City on February 25, 2012?  I was there to witness an event that put smiles on every guest in attendance.

Salt Lake City weddings are fun when you can decorate with paper lanterns for a unique look and feel.

The bride loves paper lanterns, so her family decorated above the wedding cake alcove and above the refreshment buffet tables with large red, orange, and white paper lanterns of various sizes.  It created such an enchanting feel to the evening.  The entire family came early to set up the dream wedding their bride has dreamt about since the age of 8 years.  Several sisters-in-law helped hang the paper lanterns along with the father of the bride.  A couple of brothers created the framework wrapped in white fabric from which to hang the lanterns above the refreshment tables.

Family created a pvc frame to hang paper lanterns from above food. Another sister-in-law, nieces, and grandmother helped stuff black rocks, lush green moss, red painted willows, cranberries, and sliced clementines down into a tall glass vase.  These would make the striking centerpieces on all the tables.Wedding venues Salt Lake City offers include Ivy House Weddings  Others helped set up the displays of bride and groom photos decorated with smooth black rocks and votive candles.  I dare say that Salt Lake wedding venues have never seen such an elaborate collection of busy bees accenting Ivy House’s backdrop for this bride’s perfect celebration.  Sign in Table with Canvas art on wallThis is one of many advantages to booking with Ivy House weddings – the bride can decorate as she sees fit.  Of course, within reason; but all in all there are few limitations.  All the while, the bride’s mother kept the wheels turning and filled in all the little last-minute details awaiting her daughter’s arrival.  The couple got married the day before, which made for a more relaxed actual wedding day and now the time for partying had arrived. Bride chose to put her own "art" on the wallsPhotos, black rock, and votive candles! Simple beauty!

Fresh fruit added to the decorRefreshments matched the bright atmosphere – trays and platters of fresh fruit and petite rolls to be filled with broccoli cheese soup.  For the more hungry guests, they could savor a slice of melt-in-your-mouth prime rib.

Delicious broccoli cheese soup in roll bowlAfter greeting more than 350 guests, the bride and groom followed with the traditions of throwing the bride’s bouquet and the groom flipping the garter, which he carefully fetched.  This couple chose to do this entertaining from the balcony!  Not all Salt Lake City wedding venues offer this platform to highlight the honored couple. Bridal bouquet throw

Emotional dance with one of five brothersFrom there is was time for the brother’s of the bride to get her iPod playlist going for dancing.   The most romantic and emotional first dance was witnessed by all.  It was beautiful to see the love that radiated from this couple.  Then it was father’s turn.  Of course, he was cut-in by the bride’s brother, then another brother, then another.  Five brothers in all stole a dance with their younger sister then passed her back to her father.  Again, what harmony and love was expressed at this wedding reception.  The groom danced with his sweet mother and then the guests took over, at the lead of the bride.  I have never seen a bride dance and dance and dance like this energized woman.  Her smile and energy was very contagious.  The children, bridesmaids, best men, brothers and sisters-in-law all found themselves at some point on the dance floor – dancing with the bride, by the bride, or with others.  Father Daughter dance and embrace

Dancing for grandpaOne did not have to be on the dance floor to catch a huge smile.  Grandmas and Grandpas sat in chairs close by and couldn’t stop beaming as little ones came up to them dancing.   Of all the photos I took of this reception, 75% of them are just of the dancing.  Did I mention the traditional bunny-hop found it’s way into the mix as well.

Dancing the evening away! After more than an hour of dancing, it was time for the couple to wind things down and depart.  They had been having so much fun that this is when they finally stopped to have a bite to eat while they watched one of two DVD shows that were playing.  By the time they were done, most of the set-up had been taken down by family and the family was prodding the newlyweds to leave for a sparkler send off out the door!  Sparkler send off from wedding reception venue in Salt LakeAt least 20 sparklers were lit and formed a gateway to their waiting car that was just-married approved decorated.  Even some orange slices from the centerpieces dotted the car.  Just Married Car in close and secure parking at Ivy house

Truly, all wedding receptions in Salt Lake City should be this fun and beautiful.  Ivy House Weddings reception center was the catalyst for a beautiful celebration honoring this beautiful couple.  It also reflected on the union of their beautiful families.Dance, dance, dance!Quilt display with coordinated decor on spiral stairsMany shoes left behind for dancing!Prime Rib offeringTools and creativity and you get your dream at Ivy House!Beautiful Fruit CreationsCakeFlipping the garter!A touch of decor down stairway!Fun for everyone!

February 6, 2012 – A Charming Celebration at a Salt Lake City Wedding Reception Center – Ivy House Weddings

Bride's finishing touches in the Ivy House Weddings reception centerHappy newlyweds at wedding reception, Salt Lake City. This beautiful couple celebrated their marriage with family and friends at a Salt Lake City wedding reception center called Ivy House Weddings.  After finishing last hair and make-up details in the bride’s room, the bride joined her groom for a beautiful and simple ring ceremony for all family to witness.  Ivy House staff had lined up rows of chairs to face the ceremony backdrop consisting of a majestic yet delicate floral arrangement by Hillside Floral.  Soft white and peach rose petals were strewn around a simple candle vase in the center of gold-linen adorned tables.  This bride’s simple beauty was reflected throughout Ivy House and the peace of this couple radiated to their guests.

This wedding couple chose to serve delicious finger pastries from the bread company Kneaders.  Brides have brought to Ivy House so many different caterers of their choice to this Salt Lake wedding venue’s kitchen.  Whether the bride wants a full course meal or just simple cake, the bride can serve the food of her very own choice.  This also helps when working within a budget.  Not many reception centers in Salt Lake City allow this wide freedom to create a celebration that can make everyone happy, especially the father of the bride who traditionally pays for this event!  Delicious choices from Kneaders at wedding reception

All who attended enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere created by Ivy House and the Bride’s selection of decor.  Children danced to the couple’s collection of love songs on their iPod via the incredible sound system at Ivy House.  Friends from neighboring valley’s Tooele came to congratulate the new couple.  Also in attendance was a very special guest, Nana, the 95 year old grandma.  She would not miss this moment to honor her granddaughter.  Nana’s smile was contagious as she chatted with loved ones.
