Utah Wedding Venues Give Bride’s Choices

Choose your caterer at utah wedding venuesLexi and Connor had had their gorgeous wedding reception at one of Western Garden’s Utah wedding venues, Ivy House Weddings.  Their base linens were Ivory topped with a navy topper linen.  Atop this, the bride chose the reception center’s standard candle with their vibrant boxwood green wreath.  This set a happy yet cozy mood reflecting the couple’s zest for life.  Their guests were invited to put on fun attire and take memorable photos in the groom’s changing room where a photo booth was set up.  The groomsmen were in charge of this activity and they had a blast doing it.

Bride and groom as wedding location in Utah

Ivy House is one of the reception centers Salt Lake City offers that has Cold Stone Creamery (Draper store) as one of their preferred caterers.  Lexi chose to use them rather than self-cater, which is allowed by Ivy House.  Along with the high quality ice-cream, the family provided several sheet cakes to serve the guests.  A family friend created the masterpiece wedding cake which was displayed in the cake nook upon the Ivy House cake pedestal which is available if the bride is bringing her own cake rather than use one of our recommended cake designers.

Lexi and Connor hired Chelsey Rae Photography as their photographer who took beautiful photos of the couple outside before dark and of their special first dance as husband and wife in front of the romantic fireplace.  Their evening culminated with the traditional Ivy House sparkler send off and with such a big crowd of family and friends, extra sparklers were brought in.  The wedding venues Salt Lake City brings to our Utah brides are many, but few are as classic and easy to work with as Ivy House.  As you view the many happy faces of the guests, you can see that Salt Lake City wedding venues like Ivy House are happy places to be.

Ten Basic Flower Tips for Celebrations at Wedding Venues in Utah

utah wedding receptions flower tipsFlowers are an important focal attraction of a wedding celebration.  Many wedding venues in Utah require brides to use their in-house florist for the event’s floral needs; however, Western Garden’s two wedding reception centers do not require but only recommend their favorite wedding florist.  As a courtesy to our brides, we recommend Hillside Flowers.  (Click to see their sample pricing)

Whether it is Hillside or other chosen florist, or even if you do your flowers yourself, here are 10 basic tips to know and remember.

1)  The Bare Basics include:  bride’s bouquet, groom’s boutonniere, corsages for each mother, boutonnieres for each father.

2)  Additional flower needs for the wedding party – Maid of honor’s/matron of honor’s bouquet, bridesmaids’ bouquets, best man and groomsmen’s boutonnieres, hair piece for the flower girl and rose petals for the flower girl to gently toss down the aisle.

3)  Wedding reception flower needs include:  table centerpieces, customary bouquet that the bride throws, flowers on a gift/guest attendance book table, and cake flowers.   Flowers for a food buffet table may be considered.

4)  The wedding’s theme and colors can be incorporated in the flower selection process.  Consider the types of flowers, flower colors, ribbons, greenery and accents to be used.  Your flowers can be a beautiful reflection of your personality for all your guests to witness.  A bridal bouquet reflects the final touch of the bride’s gown and is an accessory that completes the attire.  Flowers also help capture the theme of a wedding albeit romantic, elegant, rustic, modern, antique to simple.  Exotic orchids to timeless calla lilies, your flowers can tell your guests a lot about you.

5)  To keep the flower budget reasonable, it is less expensive to select flowers that are in season and locally grown if possible.  You may need to improvise and coordinate colors and flowers around certain seasons, but this means you may be able to afford more flowers.  Being open-minded and willing to work with your florist so you don’t have to import flowers will save you a lot of money.

6)  Consider your reception venue.  Utah reception centers that already have some greenery, won’t need as much floral decoration as those that have none, containing only walls and hard decor.  Brides that book at Ivy House and Atrium find that they don’t require as much floral design as other Salt Lake City wedding venues.

7)  Coordinate with a florist that can accommodate you for both the wedding venue for the ceremony and the Utah wedding reception center for your celebration.   This will help you deal with one single florist who can create one cohesive theme for your entire day.  These professionals are able to provide guidance and advice to you about what flowers will work best for your needs.  Sometimes they can even supplement flowers in bouquets and centerpiece with more greenery, feathers, pearls, or artistic elements.

8)  Inquire about vases.  Does your florist rent them to you?  Are they purchased by you as part of the cost of the arrangements?  This is important to know.  You will want to know if  you can send floral arrangements home with guests as a gift?

9)  Does the florist set up the floral pieces?  Does the florist take down the pieces at the end of the reception if the vases are rented or do you do this and return the vases?  These little details are important to know ahead of time.

10)  Many brides want their bouquets professionally preserved.  Some florists provide this service.  Inquiring ahead of time will help save you significant time and help to preserve the bouquet while it is still vibrant and fresh.

Flowers are a vital part of your wedding celebration.  Whether you choose one of the many Utah wedding venues that require the use of their in-house florist or use one of Western Garden’s two wedding reception venues in Utah where you can choose your florist or do it yourself, take heed to these 10 tips to have your flowers be the final accent to your beautiful celebration.

Wedding Venues in Utah Real Event – Daytime Ceremony

Salt Lake Wedding venues with daytime eventsWedding venues in Utah like Ivy House Weddings are busy with real events like this one.  This beautiful daytime event is worth highlighting again, especially now that the bride’s photographer shared many of the photos with us.    This bride chose to have a daytime ring ceremony for special family and friends.  It was simple and stunning.  One unique set up feature was Angela set up a guest sign in table in the middle of the room just a bit in from the main entrance.  Their guests could enjoy a piece of carmel taffy and write a special note of good wishes to the new couple.

Angela kept the ambiance of this Utah wedding venue in the brown classic tones with an accent of ivory with sashes on the chairs, her wedding gown, and her elegant bridal bouquet.  The groom and his men were in brown suits and the bridesmaids were also in warm taupe summer dresses with elegant white pearl necklaces.  Very classy!  I believe that after the ring ceremony, the wedding party departed for a local favorite restaurant.  What a relaxing beautiful wedding day with close family and friends!

Wedding venues Salt Lake City Offers Has Built in Luxury For Bride’s Affordable Dreams

If you are looking for the newest wedding venues Salt Lake City has to offer, you’ll discover  Ivy House Weddings.  This is one of the newest and chic wedding venues in Salt Lake downtown with many options that brides and their families enjoy.  This bride completely enjoyed the option to bring her own cake designer, florist, and caterer rather than use Ivy House preferred partners.  Many of her providers were friends or family so this worked out perfectly.

This petite vivacious bride chose ivory and pastel pink colors for her decor.  All the guests enjoyed her beautiful cakes as refreshments that she ordered from Granite Bakery, who also was her cake designer.  Beautiful and refreshing fruit assortment also was served.

This bride had her brothers introduce all her bridesmaids who came parading in from the elegant bride’s dressing room.  What a fun time everyone had dancing the Macarena among other dances.  Salt Lake City wedding venues like Ivy House are a great place to celebration such special unions.

The Flower Patch created her flower masterpieces and her photographer was a dear friend of the bride named Bethany Bown.  Salt Lake City weddings can be beautiful dreams come true for Utah brides when their reception centers allows the freedom to work within a budget.

Salt Lake Wedding Venues That Don’t Require Additional Decorating By the Bride

Simple decorating your Salt Lake City Wedding Venues

One of the most chic wedding venues Salt Lake City accommodates is Ivy House Weddings at Western Gardens Downtown.  Brides really enjoy the fact that they do not feel like they have to decorate a lot for their celebrations, but if they want to add more, they are welcome to do so.  With the Ivy House tall silver candlesticks (one of several options) on each guest table, this bride added a touch of tule with votive candles and smooth shinny river stones.  The bridal-toss bouquet served as the flowers on the sign-in table and that was just about it for decorating this sophisticated Salt Lake wedding venue.

For this event, our bride chose our preferred caterer Utah Celebrations who thrilled the guests with their flaming crepe bar.  Her cake designer was Cake Defleur who created this very simple and elegant cake.  Her photographer was Ashlee Broke Photography and the florist was Mel Kester.

Comments written by the bride and groom:  The Ivy House was beautiful and everything I could imagine as a bride.  Our guests all loved it too.  I will always remember my day because of the experiences I had with Ivy House.  Thank you!      ~ Anna & Pete  May 5, 2012

One of the Wedding Venues Salt Lake City Shares Some Great Reception Ideas for Any Bride to Consider

Romantic couple dancing in wedding venues in Salt Lake CityA unique and beautiful celebration of love took place at Ivy House Weddings, one of the newest wedding venues Salt Lake City has to offer.  This couple and their families and guests enjoyed their Salt Lake City wedding celebration with beautiful flowers from Costco, delicious bundt cakes from an Aunt, and catered delicacies by another Aunt.  This is one of the perks of booking with this Salt Lake City wedding reception venue called Ivy House Weddings.  The bride and her pocketbook can decide where she wants to spend her budget.

There are three highlights I’d like to share that were particularly worth noting.

1.  The party enjoyed a lot of dancing and this bride chose to hire an incredible DJ who really knew his music and knew how to get a crowd dancing.  Craig Chambers Disc-Connection got the place rockin’ and everyone had fun either dancing or watching the dancers.  Salt Lake wedding venues rock with classic DJ

2.   The second unique feature was the bride’s chosen refreshments for the evening.  With a dear aunt and the help of several neighbor women, the guests were able to walk through a “pasta bar” that was so fresh and fun.   The aunt in charge would place into the guest’s bowl items chosen from a number of choices, including different pastas, vegetables, chicken and even shrimp!  Then the guest would continue to the cooking station of 5 fun loving women.  Each had a small skillet and a burner in front of them.  In addition, there were in front of them several pitchers containing two types of sauce – a creamy Alfredo (made from scratch) or a tomato based sauce (again, made from scratch).  A cook would take the guest’s bowl and toss it in her pan and begin cooking it all.  Taking only about 1 minute per guest, the delicious dish was then poured onto the guest’s plate.  Then the happy customer could add salad, parmesan cheese, and breadsticks if they chose. Pasta Bar Lady Cooks at Salt Lake wedding venues  Some Salt Lake City wedding venues let you serve what YOU want!  Made to the order of each individual guest!

3.  One other clever idea involved the photo book and guest signature book.  Many times, guests simply get to glue their photos any which way in the couple’s book.  This bride had thought ahead and had created placement strips for the photos.  Guests didn’t have to decide where to place the photo and it gave the book more uniformity as the guests each had plenty of room to write their little best wishes to the newlyweds.  This bride surely was thinking way ahead.  Wedding reception idea of designating locations for guests to place their photo booth photos.

I will never forget the love in the eyes of the bride and groom as they danced their first dance.  The bride obviously adores her husband and he likewise to her.  Also, there were tender moments as the bride danced with her father.  Many beautiful memories were caught on film by their photographer Kristen Mae.

Of all the wedding reception centers in Salt Lake City this couple could have chosen, Ivy House Weddings was the perfect wedding venue they could have picked.  The mother of the bride wrote “We couldn’t of had a more perfect day! Everything was perfect.  Thanks so much for the perfect wedding!”

This couple didn't have an official line, but rather walked around the hall. More simple, less expensive, just as delicious, and just as fun to cut! Tender time with Dad! Plenty of smiles for everyone! A little touch to Ivy House centerpieces!

No Weather Worries at Western Garden’s Reception Centers in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City wedding photos are beautiful outside of Ivy House WeddingsIn early May, this bride and groom didn’t have to worry about Utah’s unpredictable rainy spring weather.  They were the honored guests inside one of Western Garden’s wedding reception centers in Salt Lake City.  Ivy House was the place for an evening full of beautiful memories, great happiness, fond reunions, rowdy dancing, and delicious cuisine.

The bride’s choice of Tiffany blue table linens and ribbons were very striking in Ivy House’s stylish ambiance.  After a brief yet beautiful wedding ring ceremony, the weather cooperated allowing the couple and wedding party to take plenty of photos outside in the gardens.  Adilfa from Don Polo photography was their professional.  She has a lot of spunk and definitely knows what she’s doing.  (The photos in this blog were taken by a non-professional Ivy House employee.)

About 350 guests savored delicious pastries, fresh fruits, salads, breads, and candies.  Plenty of relaxing conversation was enjoyed by all.  The wedding cake was created by Ivy House preferred baker Carrie’s Cakes.  The stunning and elegant 5 tiers sat as a queen on her pedestal for guests to admire.  This couple chose not to have a traditional wedding party line, but rather mingled throughout Ivy House hall to greet people and enjoy old and new acquaintances.

Another unique thing about this wedding party was the send off of the newlyweds.  The family had made plans for several dozen beautiful lantern lights to send off into the sky.  We all stepped into the movie Tangled as we watched the magical cylinders drift up into the heavens.  The bride and groom sent off a large blue lantern while all the others were white.  These coupled with Ivy House sparklers made for a beautiful finale to a beautiful celebration for a beautiful couple.

February 25, 2012 – Wedding Venues in Salt Lake City and Paper Lanterns

Couple's First Dance with joy all around at wedding venue! Can you imagine a more happy place than at Ivy House Weddings, one of the wedding venues in Salt Lake City on February 25, 2012?  I was there to witness an event that put smiles on every guest in attendance.

Salt Lake City weddings are fun when you can decorate with paper lanterns for a unique look and feel.

The bride loves paper lanterns, so her family decorated above the wedding cake alcove and above the refreshment buffet tables with large red, orange, and white paper lanterns of various sizes.  It created such an enchanting feel to the evening.  The entire family came early to set up the dream wedding their bride has dreamt about since the age of 8 years.  Several sisters-in-law helped hang the paper lanterns along with the father of the bride.  A couple of brothers created the framework wrapped in white fabric from which to hang the lanterns above the refreshment tables.

Family created a pvc frame to hang paper lanterns from above food. Another sister-in-law, nieces, and grandmother helped stuff black rocks, lush green moss, red painted willows, cranberries, and sliced clementines down into a tall glass vase.  These would make the striking centerpieces on all the tables.Wedding venues Salt Lake City offers include Ivy House Weddings  Others helped set up the displays of bride and groom photos decorated with smooth black rocks and votive candles.  I dare say that Salt Lake wedding venues have never seen such an elaborate collection of busy bees accenting Ivy House’s backdrop for this bride’s perfect celebration.  Sign in Table with Canvas art on wallThis is one of many advantages to booking with Ivy House weddings – the bride can decorate as she sees fit.  Of course, within reason; but all in all there are few limitations.  All the while, the bride’s mother kept the wheels turning and filled in all the little last-minute details awaiting her daughter’s arrival.  The couple got married the day before, which made for a more relaxed actual wedding day and now the time for partying had arrived. Bride chose to put her own "art" on the wallsPhotos, black rock, and votive candles! Simple beauty!

Fresh fruit added to the decorRefreshments matched the bright atmosphere – trays and platters of fresh fruit and petite rolls to be filled with broccoli cheese soup.  For the more hungry guests, they could savor a slice of melt-in-your-mouth prime rib.

Delicious broccoli cheese soup in roll bowlAfter greeting more than 350 guests, the bride and groom followed with the traditions of throwing the bride’s bouquet and the groom flipping the garter, which he carefully fetched.  This couple chose to do this entertaining from the balcony!  Not all Salt Lake City wedding venues offer this platform to highlight the honored couple. Bridal bouquet throw

Emotional dance with one of five brothersFrom there is was time for the brother’s of the bride to get her iPod playlist going for dancing.   The most romantic and emotional first dance was witnessed by all.  It was beautiful to see the love that radiated from this couple.  Then it was father’s turn.  Of course, he was cut-in by the bride’s brother, then another brother, then another.  Five brothers in all stole a dance with their younger sister then passed her back to her father.  Again, what harmony and love was expressed at this wedding reception.  The groom danced with his sweet mother and then the guests took over, at the lead of the bride.  I have never seen a bride dance and dance and dance like this energized woman.  Her smile and energy was very contagious.  The children, bridesmaids, best men, brothers and sisters-in-law all found themselves at some point on the dance floor – dancing with the bride, by the bride, or with others.  Father Daughter dance and embrace

Dancing for grandpaOne did not have to be on the dance floor to catch a huge smile.  Grandmas and Grandpas sat in chairs close by and couldn’t stop beaming as little ones came up to them dancing.   Of all the photos I took of this reception, 75% of them are just of the dancing.  Did I mention the traditional bunny-hop found it’s way into the mix as well.

Dancing the evening away! After more than an hour of dancing, it was time for the couple to wind things down and depart.  They had been having so much fun that this is when they finally stopped to have a bite to eat while they watched one of two DVD shows that were playing.  By the time they were done, most of the set-up had been taken down by family and the family was prodding the newlyweds to leave for a sparkler send off out the door!  Sparkler send off from wedding reception venue in Salt LakeAt least 20 sparklers were lit and formed a gateway to their waiting car that was just-married approved decorated.  Even some orange slices from the centerpieces dotted the car.  Just Married Car in close and secure parking at Ivy house

Truly, all wedding receptions in Salt Lake City should be this fun and beautiful.  Ivy House Weddings reception center was the catalyst for a beautiful celebration honoring this beautiful couple.  It also reflected on the union of their beautiful families.Dance, dance, dance!Quilt display with coordinated decor on spiral stairsMany shoes left behind for dancing!Prime Rib offeringTools and creativity and you get your dream at Ivy House!Beautiful Fruit CreationsCakeFlipping the garter!A touch of decor down stairway!Fun for everyone!

December 8, 2011 Wedding Receptions in Salt Lake City

One of the newest reception centers in Utah, Ivy House was filled with family and friends to celebrate this new couple’s union.  The children’s room was well used and guests felt so comfortable to linger longer to enjoy the spirit and atmosphere of one of the finest wedding venues in Salt Lake City.  The bride’s favorite refreshments – waffles – were the refreshment served with the most stunning fruit bouquets.  Ivy House was the most perfect of all wedding locations for this beautiful couple.  Many comments were made by the bride and family…

“Our overall experience was fabulous, way better than a Church gym!”

“Ivy House definitely exceeded our expectations.  This was the most affordable of the wedding places in Utah that we looked at.  It had many “extras” included in the base price.  These ended up being a big deal.”

“Your staff is extremely professional and friendly.  Helpful when needed, but stepped out of the way enough to allow the family to do their thing.  We appreciated that.  Your staff was the best!”

“The sparkler send off was perfect!”  “

We consider Ivy House as one of the upscale wedding venues Salt Lake has to offer.”
